Made by Mosaic was started as a project of Mosaic Community Developments, a nonprofit that is implementing South Africa’s first sustainable orphan care model. To date, Mosaic has built nine homes that are housing families caring for over 20 orphans and also has a preschool for HIV infected and affected children with 120 students. Made by Mosaic was created to provide jobs for Mosaic foster parents and other members of the surrounding community.
They are proud to present their first collection of handmade products just in time for the holiday season! Each purchase sustains the employment of 22 women in the township of Ikageng. Their employment ensures the well-being of their families and is encouraging economic development within their community. All of the products in their catalog were made with 100% South African yarn, which was hand spun and hand dyed by another job creation project in Cape Town. This includes Be Sweet yarns and we are excited about being part of Made by Mosaic! Their mission is similar to ours and we are proud of what they do!
