The British Are Coming (er, Came…)

July 20, 2011 § 1 Comment

Ok, by now they came and went, but America has had a fascination with royals since Diana walked down that aisle 31 years ago. The recent trip to California by William and Kate caused quite a shake up in Hollywood and in turn, the knitting world.

Duchess Catherine was seen wearing a knit shawl while grocery shopping in the UK recently. Our friends over at Cardigans in Santa Barbara, CA are offering lessons on how to knit the “Kate Middleton shawl.”  Kate’s shawl is a lovely bottle green cashmere, but at Cardigans they are making the shawls with our Be Sweet Bamboo yarn to keep it nice and light for the Santa Barbara climate. Lessons are being offered every Friday from 3-6pm at their shop.

If you are not in CA and cannot head over to Cardigans to knit with them, there are plenty of patterns for the shawl on Ravelry to choose from!

If you can’t get enough royal knitting, check out Fiona Goble’s Knit Your Own Royal Wedding book here.

Cheerio!
