Modern Top-Down Knitting

What knitter doesn’t love a good knitting book? You see some amazing projects, ideas you never would have come up with yourself, interesting yarns and clever techniques… Most of us have dozens and dozens of knitting books on our shelves and when we come home with another our spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other/roommate says with a roll of their eyes “Do you really need another knitting book?” To which I at least always respond, “Why yes, I do.”
A book came out last October under the publisher Stewart, Tabori & Chang that we have yarn in and we wanted to give a shout out to Kristy McGowan, author of Modern Top-Down Knitting. There are a lot of great top-down books out there, but many are outdated not only in their designs but their fiber choices as well. With each calendar year there are amazing new fibers, colors and styles. Kristy’s book has all that and is already in its third printing.
One of the most popular garments in this book is a pair of arm warmers, knit up in our Bamboo.
Find them on Ravelry here.
Kristy is currently working on her second book, a sequel of sorts coming out in fall 2012, she tells us. It will also have a Be Sweet yarn in it, but is still in the working stages, so that’s all we can tell you.
