Here at Be Sweet we get excited about new fiber combinations, new colors, new products but mostly, NEW YARNS!
We’ve been working hard to bring you, our dear readers/knitters/crocheters some exciting new fibers to work with. We unveiled our new Au Natural Collection at the June TNNA show in Columbus and now we’re thrilled to show YOU!
All of our new Au Natural yarns are hand spun and dyed with non-toxic dye made in the Garden Route of South Africa. What is the Garden Route, you ask? The Garden Route is a popular and scenic stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa. It stretches from Heidelberg in the Western Cape to the Storms River which is crossed along the N2 coastal highway over the Paul Sauer Bridge in the extreme western reach of the neighboring Eastern Cape. The name comes from the verdant and ecologically diverse vegetation encountered here and the numerous lagoons and lakes dotted along the coast. It has an oceanic climate, with mild to warm summers, and mild to cool winters. It has the mildest climate in South Africa and the second mildest climate in the world, after Hawaii, according to the Guinness Book of Records.
Sounds like a great place to visit, no?
Our first new offering is “Wild Silk.” This super-soft new yarn is 100% natural handspun Tussah silk. It’s a light worsted available in 5 colors.
Our second new offering is “Spice.” This yarn is a durable blend of mohair and silk with a soft sheen. Available in 6 colors, this is a chunky yarn.
“Sensation” is our third new offering. A soft and chunky blend of natural silk and merino, this yarn comes in two different weights – thick and thin. With both knitting up as a chunky weight, this yarn comes in 3 great new colors.
Our new unique blend of soft, chunky handspun merino with a strand of bamboo makes “Bamboo Smoothie” live up to its name. Available in 3 colors, this new yarn is this blogger’s new Be Sweet favorite.
Our final new offering is “Harmony,” a soft and lightweight wool and mohair blend. This yarn knits up to be a fingering/DK weight and is perfect for socks, shawls, hats, mittens and baby knits. Available in 5 colors, this yarn is a year-round favorite.
If that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, dear readers, you’ll be thrilled to know that in addition to all these fabulous new yarns, we’re introducing many a pattern to go along with them! More on that later. In the meantime, get those knitting needles and crochet hooks ready! It’s going to be a great summer with our new Be Sweet fibers!
